FitBack & Bumps

Fit Backs & Bumps FitBack & Bumps is an exciting new Educational Exercise Programme bringing new mums and mums-to-be together to share their pregnancy experience. These are Ante Natal exercise classes and Post Natal exercise classes with a difference! Phoenix Physiotherapy and Laser Clinic will be running the classes on a monthly basis in Mansfield, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Chesterfield, and Newark. Please contact us to find out more.

These classes are unique because they are delivered by Chartered Physiotherapists so expert guidance and instruction is guaranteed throughout, helping remove the fear women have about exercising during pregnancy and after they have had their baby. You are in safe hands at this crucial time in your life - this is what makes us different from the rest!

FitBack & Bumps is more than just an exercise class - the benefits last long after the birth of your baby!

FitBack & Bumps Ante Natal Programme:

This is a 4-week (1 hour-long class, once a week) exercise and educational programme designed specifically for pregnancy and the challenges it brings. The course focuses on understanding the changes your body goes through and the importance of posture and safe and effective exercises in pregnancy, including abdominal and pelvic floor muscle exercises. You also learn how to physically prepare yourself for labour and learn the invaluable skill of relaxation.

Each week there is a different topic of discussion and a demonstration and instruction of gym ball and mat based exercises. You are also taught effective stretches to reduce joint and muscle stiffness. This is more than just an exercises class!

The exercises are designed specifically to support your changing body, with a special focus on your spine, abdomen and pelvic floor. The classes aim to make you feel better, reduce back and pelvic pain during pregnancy, and aid a quicker recovery after the birth of your baby. We will supply you with exercises cards and an information booklet so you can continue your exercises at home or at the gym.

FitBack & Bumps Post Natal Programme:

This is a 4-week (1 hour-long class, once a week) exercise and educational programme designed to give you all the information you need to regain your figure and fitness after pregnancy and birth. These classes specifically focus on regaining a flat stomach, improving posture and developing your pelvic floor muscles to support your bladder. You will be taught which exercises are safe to start with and how you can progress your fitness levels.

Exercises focus on the use of a gym ball which provides a dynamic surface to challenge and strengthen the muscles which are weakened through pregnancy. The whole course is designed around giving you the tools to keep motivated to exercise as a way of life!  We will supply you with exercises cards and an information booklet so you can continue your exercises at home or at the gym.
